Greg Whitsitt is a December 1999 graduate of the University of Arkansas with a B.S. in Computer System Engineering. Greg started working for Cerner Corporation as a Software Engineer shortly after graduation. As of the Fall of 2015, Greg is the Director of Big Data Platforms at Cerner.
Greg has over 16 years of development experience, the last 8 leading teams of developers and architects. While at Cerner, Greg has spent the majority of his career building out infrastructure components used across various initiatives at Cerner. This includes data caching for services serving up medical data with various consistency policies, dynamic change detection of data, and distributed caching research. While focusing on big data technologies, Greg and his team built out infrastructure used to stream terabytes of clinical data a day into Cerner's data centers. The infrastructure helps enable processing of this data in both batch and realtime, supporting many of the next generation applications at Cerner.
Greg lives in the greater Kansas City area with his wife Mandy, and kids Nolan and Zoe.
