Computing technology has been growing exponentially and making tremendous and rapid progress for many decades.  It is becoming pervasive in our society and has had significant impacts on people's lives and the world economy.  It leads to the creation of powerful computing and information technology industries, which include some of the biggest computing and information technology companies, such as Apple, Google, Amazon, and Facebook.

It started from a primitive standalone computing device with a limited computational power for a few engineers, but nowadays computing devices are connected through the Internet, are millions of times faster, and have billions of users worldwide.

The Computer Science and Computer Engineering Department at the University of Arkansas, the flagship campus in the University of Arkansas system, offers high quality undergraduate and graduate computer science and computer engineering degree programs.  Our programs are growing rapidly to meet our state's and society's needs for talented professionals in computing technology in both hardware and software.  Our student population has more than doubled from 2010 to 2015.  Both of our undergraduate programs in computer science and computer engineering are ABET accredited.  The Computer Science and Computer Engineering Department is a proud provider of the state of Arkansas' only PhD program in the areas of computer science and computer engineering.  Our department has excellent curricula in both computer science and computer engineering and our faculty and staff are dedicated to the student's learning and growth.  Many of the students in the Computer Science and Computer Engineering Department find excellent intern positions and jobs in top corporations in the country and our department has an outstanding placement rate.  We welcome excellent students to join our programs to receive their college education or pursue their advanced degrees in the areas of computer science and computer engineering.

The University of Arkansas in Fayetteville is classified among the research universities with the highest level of research in the U.S. by the Carnegie Foundation.  The Computer Science and Computer Engineering Department has an excellent faculty with international reputations.  They perform innovative world-class research and development in computer science and computer engineering.  We welcome any research and education partnership opportunities from industries and government agencies and support from our alumni.
